College Application Timeline
If you’re not sure when to start preparing for college or what parts of the application are due when, this college application timeline will take you through everything you need to do.
Junior Year: Spring (January – May)

Start researching colleges (academics, majors, size, location, cost, etc.)

Begin thinking about what you want in a college

Register for spring SAT/ACT (if taking)

Take the SAT or ACT (1st attempt)

Ask for teacher recommendation letters (the earlier you ask, the better)

Start building your activities list/resume

Attend college fairs and info sessions

Visit local colleges if possible

- Confirm with your recommenders and make sure they have all the information they need

- Submit any Early Action/Early Decision apps (usually due Nov 1)

Send SAT/ACT score reports, if required
- Finalize and polish your personal statement
Senior Year: Winter (December – January)

Finalize and review all Regular Decision applications
- Last opportunity to take the SAT/ACT for Regular Decision

Submit apps early to avoid last-minute issues
