H&C Education Consulting

If your child is aiming to get into top colleges, you’re probably researching different admissions consultants to see if they might provide an edge. One of them, H&C Education, is known for its highly-personalized consulting packages (and high price tag). Could H&C be the best option for your child? Read this in-depth review to find out.

H&C Education was founded by Pierre Huguet, a PhD grad from Yale University. Their staff are nearly all current students at or graduates of Ivy League schools. H&C Education specializes in personalized, in-depth college admissions packages that focus on helping students develop extracurriculars that’ll set them apart in college admissions. Their extracurricular guidance can include mentoring on anything from how to start a business, pursue activism, create a nonprofit, and find contests/summer programs/internships that are a good fit.

H&C Education offers 12-month packages for students in grades 7-12. For students through junior year, this program is called “High School Roadmap Program,” and it can include everything from extracurricular development to course selection to test prep. For 12th grade students, the program is called “College Application Program” and focuses specifically on crafting strong college applications. H&C Education also offers short-term services such as tutoring and test prep, however; their primary purpose is helping develop strong extracurriculars that align with your child’s college and career goals. H&C also has experience working with student athletes hoping to be recruited to play in college.

Bottom Line:
Is H&C Education Right for You?

If your student is aiming high and you can afford a big investment, H&C Education can provide significant help. Their services are best suited for students targeting highly-selective schools and who want comprehensive, in-depth support throughout the admissions process. To get the most out of H&C, your student will need to commit significant time and energy both in meeting regularly with their consultant and in implementing their advice, especially when it comes to developing strong extracurriculars. This isn’t a process that can be accomplished in a weekend, or even several weekends. H&C’s admissions packages are 12 months long, and students will be working for each of those months.

H&C’s approach is effective and personalized, but it comes at a premium price, likely at least $10,000. To justify that price, it’s really only worth it if your student doesn’t have the time, resources, or motivation to plan a college application strategy on their own and wants someone to walk them through each step of the process. If your student prefers a more independent approach or only needs help with specific parts of their application, like test prep or essay feedback, there are more affordable options that will better fit your needs.
